False Hope [Mid Season Update]

Written 9 August 2018, 12:30

After a reasonable first season in Division 4, with the team finishing in 9th place and with the knowledge that another win or 2 would've put them in the top 6. That gave the chairman a lot of hope going into the new season, but it's fair to say that that has unfortunately turned out to be false hope. The Fosse are really struggling to even stay in the 4th tier this season.

An injury to star left winger Sainz early on in the season left the team short of creativity. And then with Left-sided defender Balaci picking up a 3 game suspension for a bad tackle it has left the team really struggling for results.

New signing Max Whitaker brought in to bolster the spine of the team in central midfield has done little to improve things after being on the losing end of both of his opening games for the club.

To add insult to injury we were knocked out in the first round of the FA Cup and Newcomers Challenge, a match report on the latter can be found HERE.

Ultimately this has led the Chairman to start questioning everything that is going on at the club. Can anything be done to improve the tactics that we are using? The 3-4-1-2 has definitely not been producing this season, but is it too early to scrap it as it proved so useful in previous campaigns? He is also questioning the value for money that we are getting out of the club scout as the 'eye for talent' really seems to be lacking from him at the moment. And the last thing is; should we play our football in a different country starting from next season? Those Scottish Mountains certainly look enticing.

But the main focus, for now, is getting behind the team to try and rescue whatever we can from an absolute disaster of a season so far.

Thanks for reading, and UP THE FOSSE!

Good read! As for tactics something thats worked for me is playing your wide midfielders (ML and MR) closer to the center. Personally I've added Scotland to the list of nations to avoid albeit to a lesser extent than England and Denmark. Good luck with the rest of the season smiley

Thanks for that, I'll have a tinker over the next few days with my tactics. We've picked up form a bit so might stay put for another season.
