Trufflers United have gained a hard fought promotion to Division 2, Spain after late drama at the end of the season

Having rebuilt the team with fresh faces while keeping his youngsters at the core of the side, Hazwoo Watezini guided the Aqua's to promotion at last from Division 3.

After 5 seasons in Division 4 and 3 rebuilding the squad, the club is now financially healthy and back to where they belong alongside the big guns.

The club steadily competed in Division 3, coming 6th, then 5th two seasons running. But it was last season that the drama really happened. Watezini has always said aiming for 2 points a game should be enough, and that prediction turned out to be exactly correct last season.

It seemed United had left it too late and could not make promotion, but an impressive run of 6 wins in a row left them in with the slimmest of chances heading into the last 2 games.

The Trench eagerly awaited the hosting of The Brondby United, it was the Aqua's (lying in 3rd) vs the team lying in 1st. Watezini played a tactical surprise, sticking with Mocho sitting behind Mondolfo and Aviles. Piniero captained the side in goal, and despite an inspired peformance from him, the team found themselves 2-0 down at half time. Piniero made several more crucial saves to keep the blues in it, before Michelle Mondolfo scored two classic goals to level the score.

3 minutes of added time were shown as United's chances of promotion were vanishing before their eyes, and at that moment Aviles found Mocho 25 yards out from goal. A sweetly struck half volley nestled into the top corner, handing Trufflers United a lifeline in the promotion race and a 3-2 dramatic victory.

A tricky away match followed, with only a win being enough to secure promotion. The margin for error was non-existent, a draw meaning a 3rd placed finish, a win meaning the title. FC Paradoso were searching for their top 8 finish, and were up for the game. They took an early lead, but a well struck Mondolfo goal just before half term ensured the teams went in level.

Yet again, however, it seemed a draw was most likely as the game drew to a close. With only a minute left of the 5 minutes of stoppage time, Paulo Aviles netted a late winner to send the away fans into histerics. A dramatic end to a dramatic season saw United win the title with 61 points, with Newl FC on 60 in second, and The Brondby United missing out in 3rd with 60 points also.

A great season on and off the pitch saw attendences of 20,000 near every game, leaving cash to spare for the club.

Youth players flourished, Camilo Farfan left the club for 1.7 million credits, and Watezini sought to improve for the season ahead.

In came the left back Al Woods, and Suk came in to sit behind the front two. A new 4-4-2 formation was chosen, as Caso and Mihalik shored things up at the back.

Watezini says there are still plenty of funds, and maybe there could be more additions to the squad over the coming days. Names being linked to the team are the top poacher Levi Sanches, Cai Hopkins, Riley Wallis, Esposito and many others.

4 draws, 1 win and a loss have marked the start of this Division 2 season as Watezini is looking for a good cup run in the Copa Del Rey and a top 8 finish.
