Quick quesiton
This guy is putting in some good trainings, nothing special but I'd like to keep him to see If I can develop him into a good player.
Would I be better of getting a 2nd trainer so I can train him in specific areas to develop the relevant stats. Or would that be a waste of money?

to be honest and frank its pointless even to think of developing players with your training ground , try to upgrade this at least light grey beforehand ...
He'll lose value and abilities/ratings on your training ground. And, as you say, he's nothing special.
