We don't know the joys of smashing up a bus shelter or chilling in groups outside a Tesco Express either

No lol I have 817 atm and roughly speaking to a good idk 20 or so everyday now smiley You do meet some interesting people smiley
Hey John? After "meeting" these people, I'm just curious, did you make any plans with them to go outside and do some real socializing together as a group or are you just "meeting" these people online for just a chit chat behind your computer screen?...because I tell ya now John, sitting behind your computer screen "meeting" these people is not socializing smiley

Who is "you guys"? I'm not acting at all that people don't go outside. I'm well aware people with social media accounts go outside from time to time. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. I'm just basically trying to point out there is more to life than spending hours on end every day on social media. Tell me because I'm curious to know, what does social media do for you? I bet you are 1 of those guys wasting hours of your precious life every day on social media when there are a zillion other better things that you could do instead smiley

It is daft when people go for a meal then take a photo of it before they eat it.
People want to share what they are about to eat especially if it is fancy or they are going to a restaurant or something. I don't do it personally but there is nothing wrong with sharing what they eat. You may not care but some of their friends might. smiley
I am 31 and can honestly say that I have literally never sat down and thought... "I wonder what ____ is having for dinner?" - Nobody cares, nor have they ever cared, nor will they ever care.

It's beyond bizarre.

And yes, I am well acquainted with social media - In fact I was on social media before you were even born if your VM age is right... I was on from the very outset - MySpace used to be a thing - google it if you're not sure what that is...in fact, before myspace and facebook, there used to be a thing called faceparty, probably one of the first ever social networks - I was on that too.

I had Facebook for about 11 years - I deactivated just over a year ago, due to being in a profession where you have to be VERY careful with social media and I couldn't be bothered to censor everything I posted to check it was appropriate etc... I thought I would miss it... I don't. I didn't even intend to deactivate - I went through to purge my friends list of anyone who I didn't want to be able to see my posts, and realised that everybody I cared about who was on there, I can get in touch with about 5 other ways, and the majority were people who I couldn't give a toss about so really it would be no loss to get rid of it entirely....

It's an absolute waste of time and energy, nothing more, nothing less.

I'm sure you do and while you're chilling with your mates outside of Tesco, I'm very sure there is some if not even maybe all with mobiles in their hands and I'm also sure while they may run after smashing up a bus shelter, you'll always have someone taking a picture with their mobile of the destruction to send onto their friends. Pretty pathetic to be fair smiley

That would be correct...no social media. If i want to socialise, I go outside smiley
smiley People go outside as well y'know. Yes technology has decreased the number of people going outside doesn't mean people stop going outside altogether. Most people I know both use social media and go outside and socialise as well. Also social media has allowed a wider range of socialisation. I guarantee that people socialise more now than they did 20 years ago. The only difference is that it has become more technological than before.
Speaking as somebody who was a kid 20 years ago, who works with kids now... they absolutely do not socialise more now. When I was a kid, I used to walk 2 miles each way (I spent bus money on fags) to spend an hour or two in town with my mates from other schools, pretty much every day - at least 3 times a week and then on Saturdays too. We were regulars in the coffee shops around town, where we used to sit, and chat, or find some girls to chat up.

They slag each other off a lot more now, usually over facebook or snapchat. That's not socialising.

Posting "OMG you're so beautiful" every 5 seconds all over every photo that pops up on their timeline or shouting at each other over xbox live or asking people to choose their profile picture is not socialising.

It's really sad
